Madeleine Diouf Sarr urges international community to step up

The Chair of the Least Developed Countries (LDC) Group and Environment Minister of Senegal Madeleine Diouf Sarr recently shared her thoughts on the deep and continuing impacts of climate change on LDCs. She explains how LDCs’ calls for urgent climate action from the international community have gone unheard and the immediate steps that must be taken to address this.

She also highlights the limits of climate adaptation and the important decision to double adaptation finance at COP26. This will provide much needed support if implemented – helping LDCs to deal with a climate crisis for which they are not responsible.

Rich countries must work constructively with LDCs to set up finance facilities to address climate-related loss and damage. We need global solidarity on this.
