Factsheet on the Global Methane Pledge

Germanwatch

At the UN Climate Conference in Glasgow (COP26), several multilateral initiatives were launched.

They can potentially close the 2030 ambition gap and implement climate action more quickly. Nonetheless, these developments must be closely observed to make sure that governments and initiatives keep their promises and reach their targets.

One such initiative is the Global Methane Pledge launched by the United States and the European Union. The Pledge’s main goal is to reduce global methane emissions by at least 30% by 2030 (vs. 2020 levels). Germanwatch takes a closer look, in this short factsheet.
